Jan Borreck (*1985) is a master student of photography studies and research at the Folkwang University of Art. He engages with the materiality of photography and the processing of the image-bearing medium itself. Furthermore, interrogations exploring the message and meaning of photographic projects and their presentation and representation.
In the course of other artistic and theoretical projects, he deals with questions regarding generative and digital photography, curation, and ideas surrounding the meaning of the medium itself.
Jan also explores the world of sound and soundscapes in his love for electronic music, drum machines and synthesizers. Every Wednesday he organizes a workshop for his fellow students to enjoy the production and thinking of sound synthesis.
He worked together with: Museum Folkwang, Marta Herford, Deutsches Plakat Museum, Internationale Photoszene Köln, KHM, Wüstenrot Stiftung, Kunstverein Bielefeld, Kunststiftung DZ Bank, Triennale der Fotografie, and a lot of Artists and Professors.
